FAQ
What paperwork is required prior to my first session?
Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) completed by your GP or Psychiatrist (to be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate).
In addition to the MHCP, a referral from your GP stating the number of sessions and reason for referral is also required.
Any other relevant paperwork.
Can I claim on private health insurance?
Yes. If you aim to claim through your private health fund, please let us know so that an invoice can be emailed to you.
How much is a Medicare rebate?
The current Medicare rebate for a Clinical Psychologist is $131.65.
How do I claim my Medicare rebate?
Once you have your Mental Health Treatment Plan as well as GP referral and have provided these to us, we will process your Medicare rebate for you after each session. This means you will not need to do anything, except ensure that your account is linked to Medicare through the MyGov portal. Rebates usually take 2-3 business days to show up in your account.
When do I pay for my session?
If you are not a bulk-billed client, you will need to pay in full at the end of your session and we will arrange for your Medicare rebate to be sent to your nominated bank account.
What is the cancellation policy?
We need a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee. A 100% consultation fee will be charged if less than 24 hours’ notice is received. This applies to rescheduling, failure to attend appointments, as well as cancellations. Please note, Medicare does not cover missed appointments due to cancellation, rescheduling, or failure to attend appointments, and the fee is covered by the client directly. This fee is waived if a medical certificate is provided indicating the missed session is due to the client being unable to attend due to a medical reason.
Do you provide medico-legal reports, court reports, Disability Support Pension (DSP) or diagnostic reports?
At this point in time Compassionate journey does not provide written reports for employers, insurers, court, or other purposes. A certificate of attendance can be provided free of charge.
However, depending on the circumstances we can provide a DSP report and/or reports for NDIS funding purposes.
Do you provide sessions/work with TAC, Workcover, NDIS, DVA providers?
At this point, Compassionate Journey only provides Telehealth sessions to private/self-funded individuals, Worccover, NDIS-funded sessions, or clients claiming rebates on either Medicare or private health insurance.
Do I need to provide my Covid-19 vaccination status prior to accessing your sessions?
No. We do not ask our clients to provide Covid-19 proof of vaccination. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated clients are welcome.
Is there access to face-to-face sessions?
No. At this stage Compassionate journey is only available online/through Telehealth. This allows us to reach clients all over Australia and provide support to individuals who otherwise might not be able to access help due to their geographical region or inability to attend a face-to-face session.
What is the wait time, and can anyone access bulk-billed sessions?
We understand that the negative effects and consequences of Covid-19 and recurrent lockdowns on mental health are far reaching, and as a result, the demand for bulk-billed sessions has increased dramatically. Therefore, there might be a waiting list to access these services. Please contact us to get more information on the timeframe to access bulk-billed services.
At this point in time, we offer bulk-billed sessions to rural and remote clients, and clients experiencing hardships.
What if I feel that I need help urgently and cannot wait until my session due to a crisis?
Please see tab called ‘Emergency Service Providers’ with details to access help lines if experiencing an emergency.
